white paper packages tied up with string...

these are a few of my favourite things... la la la la la...

Oh my it was christmas in feb here this afternoon.

I oppened the door to find two parcels from 'Quilt Home".

Oh so very exciting i did cartwheels down the hall!!

Inside was the most beautiful fabric from amy butler - approximatly 20 metres!!

and i have only ever seen it on webpages and to see it in real life was just devine...
oh so soft and the colours are just sublime.

I ordered the pattern and material for Amy Butlers Brick Quilt (click on the downloadable patterns link)

And i am still going strong with the chair covers. My other half is off fishing tonight... which i am
kind of down about as i wanted to complete my covers - however i told him if he bought me a
sewing machine i would give him 6 months of bitch free fishing... so i sit here and bite my tongue!

i actually bough
t the boys a new fraggle rock dvd to hopefully keep them entertained enough so that i
can keep on going with it!!

hopefully it pays off!!

spunky new chair cover

On saturday i made a trip to our local op shop and found two fantastic chairs that i just had to have!! They were so comfortable, but a little on the grotty side. And so started my first big sewing project.

A quick trip to the craft shop i had picked out some fabric and bits and bobs. I decided to use velcro to secure the cover for a tight fit. I chose a light coloured fabric as i would be able to bleach it if it got too dirty... and having three little boys i thought that it could be a ver
y strong possibility!!

I then started drafting a pattern using some left over muslin and pinning it to the chair, then cutting my pieces out.

i then pinned all my pieces together to make sure they all fitte
d correctly.

From there i cut out the pattern on my good material.

Then put the piece back onto my chair to pin them together ready for sewing. Doing this made it so i knew i had a good tight fit.

At the moment i am sewing up all my seems, re-attaching at every step to make sure my
are all correctly placed.

also make sure your two year old is no where near the machine while your out of the room!!

Hopefully my next post will be the finishing product!!

yippea!!

sunday musings

well today eventuated into alot of nothingness really. Ric was sick so that put out any hope of adventure for the day and also the boys were up quite a bit last night... i got quite grumpy with every one around 1.30am and headed for a sleep on the couch... but then go sent back the bedroom at about 2am when every one decided to watch spongebob!!

I actually used my new sewing machine today... was very cautious and excited... it worked fantastically... and i created a new t-shirt for mitchee out of another tee which was way too small for him... very easy project and all worked out well...

am now going to finish my christmas decorations that i started in nov - dec!! i have figured if i dont do it now it will never happen... and its all about me leaving procrastination behind me.

I was really proud to have finished the t-shirt as i said i would do it at the beginning of the week... so a 5 day turn around is pretty amazing!! maybe things are changing...

well here i am,

Well this year is about throwing away my procrastinating ways and opening myself up to my life and where i am. Rather than aimlessly float my way through the year i am going to embrace who i am and where i am. And what is that??

A mother, to 3 of the most super fantastic boys you have ever met

Some one creative

and

A homemaker

This i owe to my boys, to nuture them and care for them in a way
that no other would.

I want to finish what i start, and most of all i want to be happy.

Happy knowing that i have done my best.
